Ghost Hunts

Portsmouth Prison is officially called HMP Kingston. It was built in 1877 and served several purposes until its closure in 2013.

At one time, the prison was used as a boy’s borstal, a type of youth detention centre. During the Second World War, the building was used as a police station.

Many dark, evil characters have spent time behind bars at HMP Kingston. After the abolition of the death penalty in 1965, the prison housed convicts serving life sentences. You can imagine the type of people those were. Many murders and serial killers were held there. One of the most notorious was serial killer Archibald Hall, nicknamed The Killer Butler.

Dark shadows are seen around the prison, heavy doors slam on their own and disembodied voices have been heard swearing!

During investigations at the prison, trigger objects are frequently affected by unseen hands.

Are you ready to explore this vast, eerie prison? Do the prisoners still remain in Portsmouth Prison?
