Kelvedon Hatch (Not So) Secret Bunker was built in 1952 during The Cold War. It was an RAF ROTOR station and was capable of protecting up to 600 people in the event of a nuclear attack. After this time, the building was also used as civil defence centre, and Regional Government headquarters.
Before the land was purchased by the government, it belonged to a farm. During the construction of the building and tunnels, an ancient burial site was discovered.
The site now acts as a Cold War museum and a paranormal events venue.
The spirits that reside at Kelvedon are varied. There are the expected military personnel seen around the tunnels. There is also a tall, elderly lady who walks the site. And then there is the dark figure. This entity is said to be malevolent, and from a time long before the bunker was built. Could this be where the ancient burial ground being disturbed comes into play?
Feelings of dread and foreboding are common amongst visitors. Loud unexplained bangs are often heard and bad smells have been experienced. Growls have been heard, stones have been thrown at people and dark shadows are often seen. Dare you brave the tunnels?
