Ghost Hunts

Gressenhall was built in 1777 and acted as an agricultural site, known as a ‘house of industry’. Wool, flax and hemp were produced on the farm and hemp sacks were made in a factory within the building.

In 1836, the building was transformed into a workhouse following the Poor Law Amendment Act. The building stayed as a workhouse for over 100 years until the National Health Service was introduced, and workhouses became redundant.

1975 saw the beginnings of the Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse Museum which exists to this day.

Much paranormal activity has been experienced in the building. Whispered conversations and unexplained music have been heard. More eerily, wailing and moaning is also heard.

Poltergeist activity is commonplace, and full bodied apparitions are seen throughout. People have described mysterious smells described as ‘sulphur’ and ‘bad cheese’. Dare you investigate this building with its dark and foreboding past?
