Ghost Hunts

HISTORY

The station was built in 1886 and was the first of its kind to combine the three emergency services in one place.

The fire station had cutting edge technology including electric bells and the fireman’s pole. The police station section, which is now the reception of the museum, had cells, stables and offices. The cobbled area was the ambulance station, and the ambulances would have been driven by the firemen. The station was in operation through both World Wars and survived the Sheffield Blitz. Damage to the front of the building that was caused by bombing can still be seen today.

The building sat empty for around twenty years until the Emergency Services Museum was opened by firemen in 1983.

HAUNTINGS

You’d expect the museum to be haunted by servicemen, which it may well be. But more is known about its criminal spiritual inhabitants. It is said that a former prisoner and a pickpocket haunt the building.

Full bodied apparitions and shadows are seen. Disembodied voices are heard and paranormal activity is common. A glass is said to have been thrown at investigators.

It seems the cells are still serving their purpose, years after use. Who will you encounter at The Emergency Services Museum?
