Ghost Hunts

Dead Street School is the nickname given to the British Schools Museum, which covers 200 years of school life.

The building was built in 1837 and is the world’s last surviving Monitorial School. These schools were charity schools in which younger children were taught by older children. A house for the Headmaster and Headmistress was also built on the grounds of the school, and new classrooms were added in the 1850s and again in 1904.

By 1910, the school had become overcrowded and so the juniors were moved to a separate school, and the infants continued to be schooled here. The school closed in 1969 and spent some time as ‘Queen Street Activities Centre’. The buildings now operate as a museum.

Unsurprisingly, children seem to be the dominant spirits haunting Dead Street School, and they are not shy! Many full bodied apparitions have been seen by guests and visitors alike. Sounds of children running and giggling are also heard.

Poltergeist activity is frequently reported at the museum.

Dead Street School is very new to paranormal investigations and there seems to be a lot waiting to be discovered. Are you ready to explore?
