Ghost Hunts

Beaumanor Hall was a family home built between 1842 and 1854. The history of the land dates back further with previous halls having existed on the site dating back to the 1300s. The earliest hall was a hunting lodge with a deer park.

During World War II, the War Offices used the building as a secret listening station, intercepting encrypted enemy signals. In 1974, the hall became an educational and conference centre after being purchased by Leicestershire County Council.

Two prominent deaths to have occurred at Beaumanor Hall were those of William Herrick VII and a coachman. William Herrick VII died in the bar room after a riding accident. A coachman is said to have hanged himself in the attic.

An angry man is said to haunt the stairs shouting at people to ‘get out’ and ‘leave’.

Many other spirits are said to haunt the rooms of Beaumanor, including children, military personnel, hooded figures, the coachman and a grey lady.

Plates are said to have been thrown from tables in the Dining Room, smashing on the floor. Full bodied apparitions are seen and strange scratching sounds heard.

People report feelings as though they are being watched when alone. Who is watching from the shadows? Do you dare to find out?
